"The arts, which are a discipline of the senses, then, arise only on the basis of this intrinsic capacity of the human being to shape the world in accordance with the possibilities that are given in it. Art-making is not reserved for the solitary act of a creative genius; it is open to all who live in the world with others."

Paolo J. Knill, Ellen Levine et al., Principles and Practices of Expressive Arts Therapy: Toward a Therapeutic Aesthetics, 2005 (p.72)

Moreover, the editor demonstrated a remarkable level of sensitivity. She approached my work with an open mind and a keen appreciation for the importance of artistic expression. Her thoughtful suggestions and feedback not only improved the overall quality of my thesis but also honored and upheld the integrity of my creative vision. Arts-based Thesis and Dissertation Editing

I am a native English speaker with years of experience in academic writing, grant writing, and editing. I am proficient in the philosophies and languaging of the Expressive Arts methodology as a graduate of the European Graduate School [EGS] in 2020. As an editor, I provide spelling and grammar corrections alongside feedback about the clarity of your content to help you fine-tune your work. I conduct sessions mainly over videocalls.

Arts-based Academic Consultation

Rate: 50-60 CHF/hour sliding-scale

As an Expressive Arts Consultant for interdisciplinary students, I conduct sessions based on the phenomenological methodology of the European Graduate School. The approach of this methodology is ‘intermodal’, structured around guiding clients through multiple art forms in one session (visual, audio, verbal, kinaesthetic, performative) as a means of ‘decentering’ from habitual ways of thinking and perceiving. I also incorporate into our sessions the work and approaches of historical and contemporary artists who explored topics similar to yours. My work is rooted in the belief that the study of elusive knowledge relies on an indirect route through aesthetics and experience. As an Expressive Arts-based Academic Consultant, I provide the framework for discovery for my clients rather than the content of that discovery, thus promoting ‘poiesis’: an act of creative making which brings a new understanding into being that did not exist before.

An Expressive Arts Consultation Session is similar to an expressive arts therapy session, except that instead of striving to find new perspectives on psychological and emotional struggles through the arts, the subject of each session is theoretical concepts, research goals, and work processes.  Each session concludes with ‘harvesting’ the client’s expressive explorations so that the discoveries crystallized through the arts can be grounded and utilized in relevant contexts.
